“You Are He” presents the teaching of Shri Ranjit Maharaj, who, together with Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj, was a disciple of the great Marathi sage Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj. I use the word “teaching” in the ordinary sense of the word and for want of a better one. Teaching implies that there is some course of study that can be followed in order to reach a particular goal or to accomplish something. Actually, what is being pointed out in the content of this book is that there is no such goal and no one to pursue it either. All that is available is a deconditioning—a pointing out that what was taken to be true is really an illusion.
This is a book for all levels of understanding. Those who have been studying non-dual “teachings” for years will find much in it to challenge them, while beginners will feel accommodated as well. The book “You Are He” is an exploration of the paradox of spiritual seeking. The paradox that what we speak about cannot be found by seeking—yet only seekers find it.
